Rights regulate what we as individuals can and cannot do, how we treat others, and how we expect others to treat us as well (Williams & Arrigo, 2012). This is very true in the sense, that we in American culture have many rights that may not be afforded in other cultures. There are rules, laws, and regulations that govern how one is to conduct themselves in society. Also, we have been reading throughout the weeks about acting in one’s self-interest. Additionally, rights factor in when determining what is morally required, permissible, or even forbidden (Williams & Arrigo, 2012). In most high ranking positions, a code of ethics is required to be read, signed, and adhered too as part of one’s job responsibility.
