According to his investigation network, their leader was actually trying to find a way to control their powers. In other words he called it the "evolution" of humans. By being able to find out how to control the demon inside of us, we could have a give and take relationship with them, with us as the master. Meaning, if we can find a way to control how much and when they can feed on our Ki, we could use their powers for ourselves and get used to their Ki. In this way, we won’t die from exhaustion of our body being too weak to handle their Ki. One, you have to have the ability to perfectly control the power of your Ki. Two, you need a weapon that is compatible with your Ki. And three, you need to have a specialization. While the first condition could be met through endless training and with talent, the second condition was harder to fill. Finding a compatible weapon was difficult and usually only those who come from a powerful family or was just lucky is able to obtain such a weapon. A compatible weapon means finding a weapon that matches your combat and Ki style and is also made up or rare materials. The rare materials are necessary so that the weapon does not break from pressure of your Ki. As they say, “you don’t chose a weapon, it choses you”.
