The natives of Peruvians would chew coca leaves during religious ceremonies. It was made when the Spanish soldiers invaded Peru in 1532. Cocaine was isolated in 1859, by a German named Albert Niemann. After cocaine was isolated, cocaine was used towards the 1880’s for medical purposes. There was an Austrian named Sigmund Freud that tested it on himself saying that it relieves depression. The same Austrian later produced an article stating that cocaine was a magical substance and that it could be used for benefits. Freud gave his friends cocaine and they had hallucinations of white snakes. In 1886 John Pemberton decided to put the drugs into a soda called Coca-Cola.
