Coca-Cola is considered one of the world’s most popular soft drinks. Created in 1886 by an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton, the drink soon found popularity following the sale of parts of his business to Asa G. Candler, who began to distribute the fountain drink outside of Atlanta. The up and coming soft drink began to be bottled in1894 as the demand for Coca-Cola grew, and by 1899 the soft drink was being both produced and bottled in mass. It was not until 1916 that the famous contour bottle was developed to make Coca-Cola stand out from the competition and give the brand its iconic look. The unique contour bottle was not trademarked until 1977, however. Something that has always been memorable about Coca-Cola, however, is it marketing. The product is sold almost everywhere simply due to its popularity and recognizable nature to consumers around the world. Many entrepreneurs also show a willingness to import the product to new countries due to its appeal to so many. This is ideal for the Coca-Cola Company as its distribution of the soft drink is able to reach millions of people who can then enjoy the product almost daily. As for the pricing of Coca-Cola, it was actually sold for only five cents for nearly 70 years. According to Business Insider (2015) and NPR (2012), Coca-Cola was sold at the five-cent mark from 1886 to 1959. However, in today’s current market the price has increased quite a bit from the original all-time low. As a result, most of what I was able to find shows that a two-liter bottle of Coca-Cola can range anywhere from $1.50 to over $2.50 a bottle (“Cost of Living”) while twelve packs can range from $3.50 to $4.00. This price can vary quite a bit, however, based on where someone lives and the form factor in which the soft drink is
