Introduction

The Coca-Cola is a world famous carbonated soft drink brand, and it is produced by The Coca-Cola Company of Atlanta, Georgia, USA. This company is best known for its flagship product Coca-Cola which was invented in 1886 by pharmacist John Stith Pemberton (Giebelhaus, 2004). And the Coca-Cola formula and brand was bought in 1889 by Asa Griggs Candler and also incorporated The Coca-Cola Company in 1892. This is one of the legend company of the world and the business operation mode of this company also leave a deep impression on the business history. People could get inspired by this successful company and learn from its business operation process.

Some major inventions are invented by human in accident, such as penicillin was found by an experimentalist in doing experiment and occasionally found the bacteria are all dead in a moldy ware. The invention of Coca-Cola is also accidental. At the beginning, Coca-Cola is a kind of drink to help people stop drinking and be marketed the nonalcoholic beverage as a “temperance drink” (Giebelhaus, 2004), and it contain a certain amount of cocaine base, that makes the Coca-Cola received lots of the criticism of many doctors and journalists, and many consumer also constant complaints and protests against the coke image of the drug. The public media pointed out that the reason of Coca-Cola’s popular is that cocaine base (Martin, E. 2008). And a series of evidences prove that drinking Coca Cola can result in side effects on human body. Under this kind of difficult develop environment, Coca-Cola Company had just earn a little income, it should pay more attention on research and make new develop of the formula, as a beverage, the focus of development is the taste and composition of the product, they reduced the original amount of cocaine base to 1/10, and then they found the best formula of Coca-Cola (Barkay, 2013). As far as I am concerned, Coca-Cola is a sales miracle, Coca-Cola has not entered a decline period, it is still in steady development, and always acclimatize themselves to the world. In this essay, I have discussed the four main part of the product life cycle, the development, introduction, growth and maturity and saturation of Coca-Cola. Through this case study, I have learned a lot from the examples of Coca-Cola and also know the reason of Coca-Cola has always be growth and did not enter the decline period (Foster, 2014). As I mentioned in the beginning of the essay, Coca-Cola has a very unique development procedure and also the success of the Coca-Cola is unrepeatable.
