Concerning the criteria for focus, I gave the student 16/20 because I feel that the student was effective in maintaining the main idea of the essay, however, did not maintain the stance of each paragraph. For example, the paragraph meant to touch base on the influence of American culture provided examples of elements within the American culture such as sharing stories, sharing smiles, sharing exciting parts of life but did not elaborate on what makes them unique and influential in American society. The student incorporated statistics into her writing which supported her statement about Coca-Cola's target audience and was effectively cohesive therefore received a score of 16/20 in the areas of development and organization.
