Essay on Coca Col A Global Brand
This report provides an overview of The Coca Cola Company, and outlines important information about the company. It also explains the relationship it has with its stakeholders. Although I am going to focus on Coca Cola as a global brand, there may be a slight focus towards Coca Cola GB.
Coca Cola was founded 1886 in Atlanta, USA, by John Pemberton, a local pharmacist. The Coca Cola Company was officially incorporated in 1892 by Asa Griggs Candler, and he became the first president of the company. In the 1900’s the company started to expand and globalise by opening bottling plants in a number of countries to reduce shipping costs and increase demand for the products (The Coca Cola Company, 2011). The brand is now present over 200 countries, and most recently was re-introduced in Myanmar in 2013. The only two countries that officially do not sell the drinks are North Korea and Cuba (Hebblethwaite, 2012).
The Financial Times (2015) ranked Coca Cola as the 32nd in their Global 500 2015 list, relating to their market value and price. While Forbes (2015) ranked Coca Cola as the 4th most valuable global brand in 2015, with a brand value totalling US$56 billion.
