Coben Undercover Parent Summary

Coben’s claim in the article, “Undercover Parent” is that parents should monitor what their child is doing on the computer. I also agree with Coben because I believe that parents should put spyware on their child’s use of the internet. I agree because spyware can be used to keep your child safe and away from the dangers that are in the internet. Spyware can be put into your child’s internet by downloading the software from a vendor and then you will receive the reports on what they do. Spyware should be put into child’s internet use because you never know what your child could be doing. If you put spyware on your child’s internet, you could see everything your child is doing. You could see if they are watching stuff they are not supposed to like watching adult videos or something inappropriate. Parents shouldn’t let their child watch those things until you trust them enough and are old enough to handle those type of things in an adult and mature way. Since teens usually don’t know what they are doing from right to wrong, parents should be in charge of telling them that some things aren’t a good idea. You could see if they are going to plan to do something illegally. You could also find out something that your child is hiding from you or anybody else. You could see if they are doing drugs or going out with friends so they can do inappropriate or adult-like things. You never know what your child could be really doing when they say they are going out with “friends”. They could be going out and doing things you never expected them to do. You might think your child is innocent or wouldn’t even think about doing unexplainable things but once they find those friends that tell them that some bad things are actually good things they might not be the innocent child you thought they actually
