21 year old Dylann Roof opened fire one Wednesday night at historical Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Before opening fire, Roof spent an hour inside the church attending a prayer meeting with his soon to be victims. Witnesses say Roof stood up suddenly and said he was there to “shoot black people”, and that’s when he began to shoot. Other statements witnesses say Roof said were: “You’ve raped our women, and you are taking over the country… I have to do what I have to do.” Eight people died at the scene.…

Pioneer Living Conditions in Nineteenth Century Nebraska As depicted in “My Antonia,” many people of the Nebraskan frontier lived in sod houses. Most sod houses had dirt floors while others had wooden planks or carpet. Temperatures in these houses were comfortable year-round because the thick, soil and grass walls kept heat in during the winter and out during the summer. There were persistent issues that came with living in sod houses, such as perpetual dirtiness and roof leaks, but for most, the inexpensive and generally comfortable homes were worth the issues.…

One of the greatest mysteries to this day is the mystery of the Stonehenge. Archaeologists trace the Stonehenge to the year 3100 B.C, but back then the invention of the wheel was unheard of. The stones in which the Stonehenge was made out of seemed to originate in the Wales which are 160 miles away from the Stonehenge. So how and why did the Celtic tribe pull of such an architectural feat, one which could capture the sun’s light and the summer solstice, one that formed the shape of a miniscule colosseum, one that captured the eyes of many English archaeologists. To understand how and why the Celtic tribe built the stonehenge and their unpredictable collapse afterwards we have to travel back in time all the way to the year 3100 B.C……

Aside from the few mansions that had already existed, the wealthiest of the wealthy were now constructing intricate, and frankly unnecessary, mansions. These estates were built with famous Victorian architecture in mind, aiming at building the most detailed and flaunting buildings that materials allowed. The Breakers, The Elms, The Marble House, and Rosecliff are a few of the enticing structures that occupy Newport, Rhode Island. Important objects that resided in these mansions were all about what the owners could show off. The wealthy felt the need and responsibility to over-do everything and anything simply to prove their wealth for all to see.…
