A counter argument that our current courses of career development for Coast Guard Divers align with the Navy Diver career progression and with such we should stay with the Navy program to train and evaluate our most senior members. I would like the Coast Guard to establish a cohesive plan to train, and fund education to generate qualified BM3 coxswains in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. Once they graduate A-school there is no solid plan or funding to ensure the reserve member’s training stays on schedule and completes their training within the required time frame. The process for a Reserve BM3 to become a coxswain is a long and difficult journey.…

To achieve this goal I wish to be accepted into Officer Candidate School where I will later graduate with a commission as an Ensign. I believe myself to be of both strong mind and body, and I accredit this to my commitment to my school, my work, and my training. I graduated top ten percent of my class in High School and Magna Cum Laude in college and I continually try to increase the diversity of my knowledge so to become a better rounded person. I majored in Criminology and Criminal Justice and minored in Psychology, so through convention teaching methods I have gained a firm grip in the Social Sciences; however, its through my work experience that I have really grown.…

Sailors will always ask the Chief, and that Chief does not necessarily need to know all of the answers off the top of his head but he does need to know who to ask or where to find it. The Chief is also responsible for upholding standards and policies, if they don’t know them, how can they enforce them? Academia helps us in a wide variety of subjects; most notable is professionalism in communications. CPOs are the primary liaison between the lower enlisted ranks and the officers.…
