Coal Should Be Made Up In The World

Decent Essays
This causes concerns because coal is, in fact, a finite resource that is being consumed so rapidly and the needs of burning coal is only going to go up in the future, leading to more pollution in the world and it is highly unlikely that we can make up coal as fast as we are consuming it to replace what we have used, therefore cutting back on the use of it is out of the question, this also means that eventually one day, all the coal is going to be used up and gone, and that day is coming faster than one can

In the face of a multitude of examples, it is arguably naive to deny that cheap fossil fuels would improve lives. For one, by 2050, the world will have a projected population of 9.6 billion with majority living in cities, requiring large amounts of power and other necessities for living. With almost 1 trillion tons of global proven reserves, coal is the only fuel that can meet such demand at scale. Without coal, humanity's progress might screech to a halt, and potentially take a step backwards, affecting our daily…

Fracking, the informal name for hydraulic fracturing, is a method of extracting natural gas from the earth. In this process, a well is drilled deep into the earth to reach shale. Once it hit this level, the well takes a ninety-degree turn and runs through the layer. Water with other dissolved chemicals is pressurized and sent down the well to create cracks in the shale. This solution helps absorb the gas and is subsequently pumped back up the well to the surface (NYTimes).…

In his influential article U.S. exports emissions - as coal, Joby Warrick argues that America has a biggest coal deposit which is like the size of Rhode Island. Moreover, Warrick also states that this coal will be enough to bring electricity to our country for decades. However, if we use all this coal (burning all the coal), it will disastrous for the environment for the reason that this would liberate more than 450 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the air. Also, Warrick talks about that the government of President Barack Obama is trying to avoid the use of this coal, and also the scientists claim that this coal must stay in the ground to avoid a terrible warning of our planet. Unfortunately, miles coals are burning here, and another tons are export to others countries such as China, and India in where…

    Why Do Coal Clean Up?

    • 502 Words
    • 3 Pages

Coal companies are making big bucks by digging up land in search of coal and in the process they’re barely cleaning up the mess they made. They have the money to do the cleaning up, but they don’t want to pay it. Even regulators are fearing a one billion dollar coal cleanup bill. If it was up to the coal companies they would leave the $1 billion bill for the taxpayers to deal with. Michael Corkery states that, “ The regulators worry that coal companies will use the bankruptcy courts to pay off their debts to banks and hedge funds, while leaving behind some of their environmental cleanup obligations.”…

However it only provides moderate grounds for main premise 1. As the author assumes that the potential collateral effects of new technologies have not been considered and that it may have been seen as an acceptable risk, in light of the benefits it produces. Also not taking action due to not knowing all of the consequence would be illogical and would almost always result in no action being taken, since we can only predict the outcome of events to a certain extent. The clean coal claim is acceptable as common knowledge that clean coal is not an effective solution. However, its grounds for supporting 1.3 are only moderately strong as it is misleading to suggest that clean coal is “most favoured solution” to global warming.…

There is typically at least a 20% energy penalty involved in 'clean coal ' processes,” (2015). While clean coal technology sounds like a good mitigation strategy due to lower carbon dioxide emissions, the cost and lessened energy output would make it much less effective than using regular…
