Coal Energy Vs Solar Energy

Improved Essays
Throughout the 21st century, more people have been converting to solar energy. Those who have been converting to solar energy are converting from coal energy. These people have been doing this because they believe it is better. Solar energy is better than coal energy because it is more efficient, renewable, and is less harmful to the environment. The solar energy industry has been booming drastically over the last couple of years for these 5 main reasons. The first reason is it has more people in the US employed than the coal mining industry. It is growing more 10 times faster than the economy. The solar industry already employs more than the coal industry, and the gap is widening. In 2012, solar added 14,000 new jobs, up 36 percent from

Why would you choose to mine THIS for a power resource? Why would you choose something that destroys ecosystems and pollutes the air over a cleaner energy source like wind power, solar power or hydroelectric power? Imagine you’re walking past a giant open field, would you rather see a black dusty machine filled smoky hole in the earth or a nice row of pretty white wind mills and solar panels on the houses? Not only does the second choice look better, but it doesn’t leave much of an impact, but coal does (a very huge impact).…

Unlike fossil fuels, it is renewable and does not emit carbon dioxide. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, the United States has an abundant supply of solar energy resources, such as solar pannels, boilers, and furneses. Enough that it can supply the nations energy needs several times over. The solar industry is currently working to scale up the production or solar technology and decrease the manufacturing costs. Because the majority of carbon emission is due to fossil fuels, solar energy has the potential to mitigate the effects of climate change.…

Solar power, simply put, is energy that comes from sunlight. Solar energy is used to power things such as streetlights, homes, or even smaller things such as calculators. Many people have switched to solar energy to power their home’s electrical appliances, as it is commonly believed that solar energy is better for the planet. While solar energy does provide us with energy without burning fossil fuels, there are also other effects on the planet. Before understanding how solar energy impacts the earth, one must understand how solar panels work in the first place.…

Thesis: Our energy comes predominantly from fossil fuels because of it’s supposed inexpensiveness. However, the cost of fossil fuels in terms of human lives is often ignored. Nuclear power, on the other hand, is a much safer alternative because it results in fewer deaths per unit of energy produced than coal and natural gas. By comparing their outputs in terms of energy produced per unit of fuel consumed, and comparing that with the amount of byproducts produced as well as the amount of deaths associated with both energy sources we can analyse their relative harmfulness.…

The most obvious reason is that renewable energy is renewable and wont run out. Eventually the resources from fossil fuels will run out, but unless something drastic happens to where the sunlight never shines down on earth again, then we will always have the energy that the sun produces. Another big advantage is that it is saving our environment from adding on to the pollution problem that the world has. These sources of energy do not produce carbon dioxide or any other pollutants, and they do not need to be dug out from the ground. By helping to minimize pollution, it will also make our nation healthier.…

By moving to solar from fossil fuel, individuals can help reduce the carbon emissions, promote local control of energy consumption, and decrease electric power consumption. Not only that, there are incentives for people who convert to solar energy as well. The biggest incentive may be the federal tax credit, which is a 30% tax credit and is available for residential and commercial installations for solar power (Oregon Department Of Energy). Another huge incentive that needs to be mention is the PACE program. The program lends money to homeowners for a solar system.…
