I want to become a coach. Coaching is teaching a sport you know a lot about either from experience or studied for a while. I chose this career because I love sports. I watch them when I can. Every Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday I watch football, basketball, tennis, hockey, golf, soccer, etc. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making this decision.
The career I chose can be offered anywhere in the U.S., because it's local/urban. I can coach at high schools, universities, or NFL(National Football League). The hours for coaching is are irregular, a full time coach usually gets 40 hours a week. I could work

Every day when I get to the field I would have to figure out everything I am going to do for that day. What the team needs as a whole, where to put athletes where they fit best, etc. Other duties a coach has is the family, a second job, physical training, fundraising for the team, and plenty more. At my local high school are great examples of coaching and teaching. Coach Phil Webb coach and teacher, Coach Aaron Roberson coach and teacher, and others.
This career’s annual salary for any coaching position makes $30,000 a year ("Summary"). A high school coach has a stipend so that adds on to the teaching salary. A initial pay start is a stipend does not increase or decrease. In colleges, universities, and NFL I may get paid more if I had more experience but not if you have a higher education until you get to like Harvard, and those type of schools.
The job market is “Very good” for coaches. There has been a major drop in the past ten years in the coaching statistics. The current market is very low. The 2020+ job market prediction for the future has a really slow increase. Salaries vs. Oklahoma make about $10,000 more

One cannot half-heartedly get into being a coach. There are many nights they leave their family, without second thought. They sacrifice leaving children at home along with a loving husband or wife without restriction, as well as early mornings and late nights. Coaches literally put it all on the line for the athletes, and do not get enough credit for all they do. It seems as if players do not fully appreciate the high school coach until they graduate and are not around them every waking minute.…

Modern coaches are now expected not only to have winning seasons, but to be dominant over the other teams. This is especially true in the elite three or four percent of football programs that collect over 90% of college football revenue (Kram). One example of this is Texas University and their former head coach, Charlie Strong. Charlie Strong spent almost three years at Texas and after one particularly embarrassing loss was fired and replaced with an interim coach (Tracy). But most coaches, and Strong was no different, negotiate contracts with their schools when they get hired, much like professional athletes (Tracy).…

When I'm older I would like to become a pro athlete, although because that is very unlikely to happen I would become a lawyer or doctor because they make good money. Another job that probably would not happen is to be a NHL gm as I love making my own teams. If that doesn't work then I could work at the Dubuque Medline because they do so many fun things at the job. In conclusion I very much love sports as they are kind of my life, my favorite teams being hockey(Blackhawks), lacrosse(UNC), football(Packers and Hawkeyes) and baseball(Cubs).…

Although I am not actively playing a sport at this current time, I helped coach a high school soccer team this fall and am currently an All-Star basketball coach for a seventh grade team. Initially, my love for coaching began while I volunteered as an All-Star baseball coach for three years with my father and brother for the local Cal Ripken league. As a result of these experiences that I have had as a player and coach, one of my goals is to become a coach at the high school or college level. In addition to that, I have also thought of becoming a physical education teacher because it is a position that would allow me to stay active and teach children the healthy benefits of staying active.…
