Coach Shirley's Participative Leadership

Decent Essays
In my opinion, the leadership style and behaviors which will be more effective for Coach Shirley is the participative. Getting the basketball team involved in the team concept would improve their understanding of the plays being made. As a participative leader, she should turn to the team for input, ideas and observations instead of making all of the decisions by herself. Participative leadership involves the entire basketball team. This leadership style enables the leader to work hand in hand with team members, which focus on building relationships and rapport.

In GPS 1010, I have learned that a person’s mindset is established in (1) a particular way of thinking; or (2) a person’s attitude and set of opinions about something. In addition to these items, one can either have a growth mindset or a fixed mindset. These mindsets play a huge role in one’s success or failure. The mindset has “two meanings to ability, not one: a fixed ability that needs to be proven and a changeable ability that can be developed through learning” and repetition. To sum up, “the fixed mindset makes you concerned with how you’ll be judged; the growth mindset makes you concerned with improving.”…
