When the movie starts the Spartans are at their twelfth championship. The juniors on the team have to step up into leadership. Cam recently lost his father, facing the possibility of losing his mother too, and wondering how he's going to care for his little brother Jamal. The juniors who receive the responsibility of the Streak face a variety of obstacles. Star running back Chris Ryan is on the verge of setting the state touchdown record, but he has to cope with an abusive father. Danny Ladouceur struggles with being the coach's son. Danny's a receiver who keeps dropping easy passes. But he also struggles with wanting more of his dad's attention off the field. It's when Coach Lad has a heart attack and nearly dies that he realizes he has sacrificed …show more content…
After the team's first big misstep in 152 games, both Coach Lad and Coach Eidson try to put the heartbreaking loss in perspective. After two consecutive losses, the team begins steamrolling opponents again, getting the fans talking about the streak again. When a Spartan is murdered, the team comes together. The coach organizes a trip to the local Veterans hospital, where they meet and talk to wounded soldiers going through rehab after losing limbs. It's an inspiring moment for the team. A soldier tells the team that he would go back into combat for his fellow soldiers in a second. That gets to the team emotionally and makes them stronger. They start doing more stuff together and practicing harder and praying and even doing school work to better themselves. Danny's dad comes back to the game and starts bringing hope back into the team. Before the final game Chris is in the car with his dad and they start talking about how Chris is going to beat the record touchdowns. His dad said that he will score 4 touchdowns in the next game to make him proud and that makes Chris angry and starts arguing with his dad and his dad then abuses Chris right there in the
