He is the client with a signed informed consent and he is responsible the financial piece of our professional relationship. However, our agreement allows me to provide mental skills training to both the athletes and the parents as well as the use of the Habitudes leadership training curriculum for athletes. Implementation using the seasons of growth. My plan is to present the growth mindset in the context of aligning the coach’s deepest desires and dreams with the four seasons of the year. Using this analogy, I was able to demonstrate to Coach Pitts that he was in the winter season, which is the most important season for future growth. This is a time for personal reflection, creating vision, refining, and preparing for the current planting seasons in the spring. This is his time to get his life right and on track as an example while also formulating plans for this team (i.e., personal, professional, and team goals with the right processes designed to move forward). This is a time for him to gain knowledge about sport psychology interventions that he might use as coach with himself and his athletes. This is his time to respond appropriately and calmly in order to learn acceptance himself (i.e., accept Tootsie as an athlete) and create a plan to get Tootsie up to speed physically instead of a knee-jerk reaction plan. There are evidenced based strength and conditioning recommendations for females participating in tackle football. I suggested he design a program for her so she could reduce her risk of injury. I will help him work through the details of developing a goal setting system that will be easy to implement, monitor, and adjust as needed to facilitate improved performance. I will also help him intertwine other sport psychology mental training skills with this system. This will usher in a spring season where he can implement his plan by planting the right seeds in good soil so that his team can burst forth with life, purpose, passion, and enthusiasm with loyal and cooperative friendships that facilitate trustworthy and respectful relationships. If the seeds are planted in good soil and then nourished through integrative neuromuscular training, skill development, and sound nutrition, for example, then the summer growing season will produce lush growth

Attack When a mindset brings forth both failure and success, it is difficult to understand its effectiveness. In my athletic career, I experience both victory and defeat as a direct result of aggressiveness. I would rather reflect upon my athletic careers and think “I cannot believe I did that,” rather than think “I wish I did that”. Whether it be stealing home late in a baseball game with my team down by two or trying to granby-roll my opponent while I am up by ten, I refuse to be conservative in athletics. During my junior wrestling season nearly every one of my losses were a result of over-aggressiveness.…
