Co-working means two social workers working together as colleagues to help a family group. One of the ways that two social workers could work together is that one worker could work with the children, while another works with the parents. Another way is that one worker might observe another working with the family, either in the room with them or through a one-way mirror or video link. Some of the advantages to this include: seeing and hearing more of what is happening, sharing the pressures and the achievements, learning together and from each other and gaining different insights about the family group, its relationships and behaviour, including possibly different perceptions from black and white, male and female

Transformational leadership requires close relationship between leaders and their team members, and the leaders should not show their power to colleagues to keep an appropriate distance. The leaders should consider the needs and capabilities of the members individually. Mutual trust and efficient communication is necessary for the leadership (Salanova et al. 2011, p. 2257). A change in a clinical setting should be managed by both leaders’ and member’s opinion. To achieve this, leaders are required four qualities which are “idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration” (Lavoie et al. 2016, p. 583).…

Optimal health requires a two-pronged approach: prevention and treatment (AIHW, 2009) . On the one hand we can seek to reduce the likelihood of a disease or disorder occurring, or at least slow down its advancement. On the other hand we need to treat people as effectively as possible when they do become ill. Ideally, prevention or treatment programs and services should not only be effective, they should also be affordable to society and accessible, so that they reach the people who need them most. Prevention encompasses health promotion activities that encourage healthy living and limit the initial onset of chronic diseases (CDC, 2009).…

Understanding the concept of theory as it relates to a specific service user group is paramount in social care practice in order for practitioners to understand behaviours, make appropriate assessment, plan and provide the highest possible level of care (Mullins, 2014). Theory is useful in social care practice as it provides an insight into understanding social issues as they affect older people in the society. (Ryan, 2009) argues that the use of theories in practices enhances service users’ outcomes and creates changes. Theory explains the reason why an action has resulted in a particular…

Either the doctor or myself contacts the social worker or the care management if they need to be involved.…
