During the peer review for the second paper, I fell behind and didn’t have very much completed work to share with the group. For my third paper however, I had a completed draft to have my classmates look over. I believe this made a dramatic difference between the two papers. The advantages of this method are that your paper is seen by many individuals, each with unique insight on how to better your paper. My group members caught grammar and spelling errors in my assignments that I over looked. During the peer review my paper was also critiqued on its transitions and organization. This helped maintain the logical progression and development of ideas through my paper. The disadvantage of this method is that not all advice that I received was correct. Occasionally I received a piece of advice that would have negative affected my paper. I learned it was important to not always assume that your group members know what’s best from your paper. This provided me with a variety of sources from an immensely large collection. The online library was used for both my first and second paper. I believe that the knowledge I gained about how to utilize this resource during the first assignment great benefited my work in the second paper. My third paper, although it did not rely on a source from Oakland University’s library, did require that I use skills learned from utilizing the online library. For my third paper I used article found outside of the library database. I used the skills I learned from the first and second assignment to determine if the outside sources I found were usable for my paper. The only difficulty I had with this resource was searching for specific topics. There is such a variety of material available that it sometimes becomes difficult to sort through all the content related to what you’re looking for. I struggled with this during my second paper. It felt nearing impossible to find any resources relating to “communication in the felid of psychology”, without sifting through dozens of articles about “the psychology of communication”.
Through these assignments I learned organization, teamwork and proper communication. The outline format I learned in this class will surely benefit me in writing and rhetoric classes in the future. As well as my new understanding of the peer dynamic when exchanging and editing
