In the Russian Revolution, Julius Caesar, and Animal Farm the governments were going through major corruption. Clover from Animal Farm represents someone from both the Russian Revolution and Julius Caesar meaning her character is of major importance to the novel. Clovers character does go through a lot of changes throughout the novel as do many of the people and characters from the Russian Revolution and Julius Caesar. What the Russian Revolution, Julius Caesar and Animal Farm have in common is their theme of tyranny and dictatorship and having similar characteristics in each character.
When the rebellion started Clover admired the idea of eliminating the humans from power. As soon as Old Major dies Napoleon decides that he needs to take over. At the beginning of Napoleon’s rule he had stuck with what was the main objective for the rebellion. Napoleon would soon start to sneak in some corruption, just like how Cassius was corrupting Brutus's mind into thinking that killing Caesar was for the good of Rome (Shakespeare Act One and Act Two). Clover’s character changes as soon as the corruption Napoleon was creating had become noticeable such as the incident when Snowball is driven off the farm by the dogs.

Boxer was the best leader in animal farm, because even though he isn’t smart, he has a good attitude and even better work ethic. It and that would benefit his followers more than somebody that is just smart, because his followers would mimick his hard work, and most likely be smarter…

In the novel, Orwell used different animals to represent the different types of ignorance that was going on at that time. For example, Benjamin, the donkey, is a pessimist that believes that nothing good will happen no matter who is in charge at that time. His purpose is to represent the pessimistic intellectual who believes that he's above politics, refusing to involve himself in society or the government. His ignorance is pride. The mixture of personalities lead to some being royalty, leaders, followers and bystanders, and naturally, hierarchical conflicts arise.
