Close Relationship History Essay 2 Introduction
People can always meet a variety of anticipated problems in their lives. Some people respond to these problems quickly due to the urgency and importance. However, some people will delay solving these problems because of the habit of procrastination. As an international college student like me, problems or challenges such as time management, cultural difference, and social relationship are expected when the living environment changes. Usually I respond and solve quickly to these problems except those in the relationship. Several factors such as family environments and peer groups influence my problem-solving process. Being egocentric and having biases is harmful to any type of relationship because there is no tolerance to other perspectives. During the period of studying abroad, there are a lot of western views that are totally opposite compared to eastern ideology. There are a variety of conflicts and controversies. For example, politics, an obvious one, can cause arguments. China is an authoritarian country, but America is a democratic country. When the professor who teaches political science compares different political ideologies, a lot of students think democracy is the best one while others are inferior. They judge other ideologies such as socialism and authoritarianism and countries that have these ideologies. People can have different ideas about different political views; however, it should be talked objectively. Inner biases will produce conflicts and offenses to people who have different backgrounds. Like in a relationship, there should not be any unfair gender biases exist anymore because it can cause more conflicts and arguments in this relationship. Women and men have equal rights to things such as enjoying intimacy and managing finance. If a man still has the ideology that women are inferior and untalented, probably this relationship or marriage is hard to continue because he disrespects the value of women. It is the same thing with friendship. In the United States, people are from diverse ethnic groups; they have different cultural norms and beliefs. It is necessary to respect other people’s cultural rules and beliefs when people make friends because disrespecting can break the friendship. Trusting is also important in a relationship. A lot of couples check their partners’ cell phones to see if they have affairs outside. Sometimes they do that without the consents of their partners.
