When it comes to reading something you always read the words but when you look really closely at the words they show something else. Through closely examining the language and words the way they are used by the writer, the writer is trying to show that language in the text that there is a general meaning for the language and shows what its purpose to the idea of text. A writer or in this case an author who demonstrates through his writing and use of language that generates a meaning is author that goes by the name of H.G. Wells. Wells showcases the use of language that generates a meaning in his writing through his book that was initially published in called The Time Machine. The author shows through his book that his language is able to generate meaning through his choice of words and how he uses them in the text he is able to showcase imagery which is evident in a certain passage. Another example, Wells is able to show meaning with the language in this passage is through the point of view of the main character which is The Time Traveller. Through the main character’s point of view is able to give a meaning to the language what Wells is writing because it shows the words in the text purpose. Through the Traveller point of view of the setting in which he states “The moon was setting, and the dying moonlight and the first pallor of dawn were mingled in a ghastly half-light.” he is able show his perspective of the setting which in his point of view is black. By showing the traveller’s point of view Wells is able to show through language the setting and type of person the traveller is because his perspective is black which is opposite of his thoughts and beliefs.
