As technology was starting to become more advanced, machines were starting to save as many lives as modern miracle drugs. Doctors were able to use nuclear imaging and huge computer databases to treat heart attacks with amazing efficiency. Post Operative Expert Medical System (POEMS) machines help less experienced doctors treat patients even in remote corners of the globe. While computers were helping heal millions of people, most Americans used their Personal Computers (PC) for not so important matters. By 1998 more than 45 million people were wired into the World Wide Web (WWW), allowing them to pursue interests from shopping to listening to music without having to leave their homes.
On April 24, 1990, at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The shuttle Discovery is launched and brings the Hubble Telescope into space. On April 25, 1990, the Hubble is deployed into orbit by the space shuttle crew. The Hubble gets its name from the astronomer Edwin Hubble. The telescope has a 2.4 meter mirror which helps it see far out into space. The Hubble took its first image on May 20, 1990. After analyzing the Hubble’s first images that the Hubble took on June 25 astronomers discover that the images were blurry because the main mirror had a spherical aberration …show more content…
It helps people understand that the Universe is still expanding, and it helps people realize just how big space is. It helps people see when comets are going to come back. It shows people how to avoid collisions with asteroids and other things that are floating around in space. It can show us how far away certain things are that might be dangerous to us such as black holes. Which can destroy our planet and everything around it. The Hubble Telescope helps us understand space and it helps us learn about it. The Hubble Telescope can show us which planets are safe to explore and which ones that are not. It can show us which planets can sustain human life and which ones that can’t. It’s also a start in the beginning of which planet we might have to move to one day when the Earth is no longer sustainable for human life. The Hubble Telescope also gives the media cool pictures of what space looks like. It can show them what comets look like and the Milky Way. It can show us what the other planets look like so we can study them and see what’s around them and see all of their moons. It can show us the stars so we can study them and see how far away they are. The Hubble Telescope made us more knowledgeable about space and the universe. If we hadn’t put the telescope in orbit in April of 1990 we probably wouldn’t know as much about space as we do now. It helped astronomers become more knowledgeable in the
