Clive Staples Lewis, a British novelist, poet, academic, medievalist, literary critic, essayist, lay theologian, broadcaster, lecturer, and Christian apologist, was born on November 29, 1898 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is best known for his fictional work, especially The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Space Trilogy, and for his non-fiction Christian apologetics, such as Mere Christianity, Miracles, and The Problem of Pain. He acquired academic positions at both Oxford University and Cambridge University. When he was very young, his mother, Flora Augusta Hamilton Lewis, died with leaving his father, Albert, his older brother Warren, and him. His father had to raise them alone. The two brothers reticence did not match
