The learning theories are behaviorist, cognitive, social learning, psychodynamic, and humanistic learning. I will give a brief description of each theory. The behaviorist theory focuses on what is directly observable. The cognitive learning theory takes into account what is internal with the learner. Social learning theory takes into account the learner’s personal characteristics, behavior norms, and the environment. Psychodynamic learning theory relies on the learner’s emotions. And lastly, the humanistic learning theory recognizes each person’s individuality. For the educator to know which theory should be utilized with teaching, the educator needs to assess the following: How influential is the environment and the internal dynamics of the individual? Is the learner an active or passive learner? What is the task of the educator in the learning process? Are there any motivations for the learner to learn? And, what are the benefits and the negatives to each theory (Bastable, 2013)? After the educator has evaluated these questions he can choose which theory will be appropriate to use, or possibly use in
