The class that was taught in the recorded lesson was a kindergarten class, with a class size of about 24 students. This lesson was the beginning of a new unit in chasing, fleeing, and dodging. In the prior units students learned about spatial awareness, levels, locomotor movement (running, jogging, walking, & different directions). In this lesson students will be learning the different pathways such as zigzag, straight, and curve. The goal of this lesson is to have students incorporate these movements while fleeing and dodging. This gives the students different strategies they may use to avoid the chaser. They are also taught to complete the different pathways at different speeds. In clinical task 3 we are coding the students practice trails …show more content…
The skill that the students were participating in was spatial awareness. The objective of the activity was to move around the gym while avoiding other students. While watching the student in the activity I noticed two inappropriate trails. After giving out instructions I sent the students out to start the activity. The student that I am analyzing just stood in one place. I had to tell the student that they must keep on moving. The second time the student had an inappropriate trail was when she ran into a classmate. To avoid the first inappropriate trail I might have explained what I am expecting from the students a little more clearly. But during this activity the student had four appropriate trails. The student completed the skill appropriately 66.7% of the time and inappropriately 33.3% of the time. When she completed the skill appropriately she avoided other students by changing her pace or moving in another direction. To make sure she had her own personal space. The second skill the students took part in was pathways (straight, zig zag, & curve). This skill was targeted through two different activities. The first activity was pathway movements and the second was following the leader which students still practiced the pathway skill. To present the first activity I used the student I was analyzing. She correctly completed the presentation of the activity. …show more content…
But do to time I was unable to achieve that. Some issues I came across while completing the task was the lack of camera time the students had. It was very difficult to choose a student because of that. I was unable to see a lot of the practice trails the student had as the camera was mostly focused on me rather then on the students. It was also very difficult to code the first skill of spatial awareness. As the skill is focused on the students self-space and it’s not like dribbling where you can clearly judge if the student is completing each dribble correctly. Also it was my first time really focusing on one student and seeing if the student was completing the task correctly so I may have miss judge some trails. With practice I may become a better judge of the students practice
