All nurses have very similar scopes of practice, but depending on the facility, specialty, and certifications they have it may change. It is important for the nurses to know their scope of practice with their job and knowing when they are outside of their scope. A nurse is supposed to advocate for their patients and make sure they are receiving the best care possible. As a nursing student it is important for us to recognize our skill set and what we can do for our patients.

It is important to understand the different scope of practice for each of the floors because depending of the certifications a nurse has and the specialty they are under they can most likely do more. Role of Patient Advocacy
The nurse is definitely a patient advocate in this facility. The patient is the number one priority for the nurse and makes it a point to fight for the needs of the patient. The nurse uses ethical principles to help guide their practice and how they help the patient get the care they require. At this facility I have seen multiple nurses fight the physician for what the patient needs to better their care. The nurse should also fight for their patient if they know it is something which can better their outcome in the long run.

Throughout nursing school, we have been taught numerous times about the nurse’s scope of practice and how to advocate for our patients. We need to be informed with whichever facility we work with and their policies. It is important we understand what we can capable of doing within practice as well as for our
