The Visting Nursing association was only something I had heard about from the case managers at the hospital I work in but, I never really knew much about what they do. An example of where I noticed some gaps in critical thinking was when a patient was feeling dizzy constantly and Claudine first thought to look at her medications because were there to follow up on a recent fall. It turned out the Medication was filled incorrectly by the pharmacy. Another gap in my knowledge would have to be of type one diabetes. We constantly learn about type two and how we can prevent type two but I feel as though we skip over type one. I didn’t notice this until we had a patient with newly diagnosed type one. I feel like this is a big problem with the practice in this day. A lot of times I see the nurses I spent the time with spent more time on the phone or computer than the time they take to do the task they needed for the patient. I was also always hearing stories about how even after the nurse would see her last patient she would go home and spend hours on filing claims and documentation like recertifications. I feel like this is a major thing affecting patient care because it's making the nurses not enjoy what they do. When someone doesn’t enjoy what they do it usually affects everyone
