Whether its struggle with bills or all together as a family, I still try to do the very best I can. Although we have troubles, I don’t express my emotions of that matter, but rather be who I am, which is being happy and making every day possible. I’ve done community services with my church like going to nursing homes and feeding the people at the hospitality center.…

In that time, we met several patients with various illnesses such as Huntington’s disease, a hereditary neurodegenerative disease, and Tuberculosis, from which my uncle passed away 2 weeks prior. Speaking to patient’s families and a nurse to better understand the implications of their conditions, Huntington’s disease struck a chord with me. I learned that the cure was not known yet, however through research, our understanding of the disease and its treatment is developing. I followed this up through personal research into neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia, which is becoming a growing…

While I did not truly engage in the day-to-day activity of being a nurse, I was able to interact with the residents. Usually, my interactions with the patients consisted of talking to them as they ate or as we traveled throughout the building.…
