Recently she has been experiencing increasing amounts of anxiety at work. The turnover rate for nurses is very high, leaving her and her coworkers in a position to pick up a heavier work load. She has days when she is sent to other units to work where she feels out of place from her normal element. She has working overtime and occasionally picking up extra shifts. She feels like her off days are not long enough. She never seems to be motivated about going to work.
Borderline case
Jasmine has been an RN for several years. She is now a float pool nurse. She is getting paid more but she has been sent to the more difficult units to work. She has been having seven patients every shift she works. She is considering going back to the med-surg unit but then thinks about how she does not have to have the same patients every day. Being in the float pool, she gets to experience new patients every day and gets to avoid some of the challenging patients that have long hospital stays.
