Finally, we discussed self-awareness, Dr. Son mentioned that he aware of his strengths and his limitations and how his staff is affected with those characters. For instance, he is a self comment that he is an opened and trust person, indeed, all his staff are very comfortable to discuss with him for any issues in hospital. Practitioners often go to him when they need medical advice, especially juniors ones. He is willing to share all his medical experiences to colleagues as his conceptions are medical knowledge serve for caring people, so that the more performance health professionals they are, the more benefits patients get. Actually, most practitioners choose health care professions with the desire to help and care people, so that a good practitioners doe not mean be a good leader. I think clinical leaders cope with many challenges because apart from their responsibility as practitioners, they inspire and encourage medical staffs involving to make decision, take risk and develop personal and professional skills with high standards of ethical and moral values, build a healthier work environment to improve health care quality and retain health care workforce and accomplish the organisation objectives. Through this conversation, I understand that becoming an authentic clinical leader is a personal journey where that person needs to discover, improve, reflect and renew oneself. Authentic leaders have to develop their own style leadership which is constant with their personality and their values. To be authentic clinical leaders, apart from professional skills, they need to gain more knowledge in their discipline. Likewise, authentic clinical leaders need to understand their own and also their follower's strengths and weaknesses in order to build a great team which each other support together for achieving higher level outcomes.
