Clinica Tepeyac Case Study

In 1993 the Our Lady of Guadalupe parish found during a community needs assessment, that for those in their area there was a need to server others. The assessment found that there was a need minister health care to the indigent population in their area, but that there were problems that prevented this. Those problems were the barriers to health care in the form of language, cost and other problems that prevented this indigent population from seeking health care help. Those people their area suffered from teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, as well as other protracted diseases.
In 1995 Clinica Tepeyac opened their doors to these underserved and they found that they quickly ran of space due to demand for their services. In December 2006 Clinica Tepeyac moved into their new clinic facility which enabled them to see even more patients. Clinica Tepeyac continues to expand with a new facility in the future that will allow them to offer even more services to a great number of clients.

This growth has seen is its share of problems as well. With the increase in work load the computer systems that once saw a few patients now must be employed to service the needs of many times more. These systems might have been serviceable when they were installed, but now they are starting to show their age. This isn’t the only problem within Clinica Tepeyac.
