I chose to change the inclination to a 75-degree angle for the third lab assignment. If I were a bird researcher studying a population of birds and the earth began to shift to a 75-degree inclination, the biggest change would be a rise in temperature at the latitude marked with the white “X”. At the original 35-degree inclination, the average temps for early spring are mild and as the months continue into summer; the average daily temperatures do not go above what is described as mild and a half. If a gradual shift began towards a 75-degree inclination, you would begin to see a rise in the temperatures for this region. In the early spring, you might still find mild temperatures but as the spring progresses into summer, the temperatures…

When winter cloaks the mountains with snow or rain, many Californians break out parkas and skis and head for the high country. Others opt for local walks or the gym to keep in shape for spring. A relative few extend their hiking season by heading to that least-visited region of California: its deserts. Deserts cover over a third of the state, mostly inland areas in the south, with a finger extending north between the eastern Sierra Nevada and the state boundary.…

I moved to Yuba City, California approximately twelve years ago and have lived there ever since. I chose to analyze the climate trends of Yuba City because, even though I may move away soon after graduating college, it is where my parents will continue to live and I would like to have an idea of future climate changes in their city. Yuba City is a fairly small town in Sutter County with a population of 65,416 people (United States Census, 2013). It is located on the Feather River 45 miles north of Sacramento at latitude: 39.140 and longitude: -121.617 (LatLong.net, 2015). It was founded in 1849, established as a distribution center for supplying the Gold Rush 49ers (Yuba City, 2000a).…

The overall climate of the Appalchian region can greatly vary depending on which area is being focused on. In most areas, the climate is temperate and humid under 2000ft of elevation, and gets colder as the elevation increases. Also, the climate is temperate as the mountains are in very close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. Furthermore, fog is usually present year-round because cold waters from the Labrador Current collide with warm waters from the Gulf Stream. Moreover, the air pushes the moisture from the ocean into the mountain region, making it very moist annually.…

The people in other states in the South question about how people from the North don’t get cold at a mere sixty degrees in the middle of the afternoon. People in north would view the people in the southern states to be outright weak to the cold since sixty degrees is warm to them; the question the Northerners gave to the South was how they managed to deal with the heat over the summers up to a hundred degrees constantly. The people in the North are aware that not all southern states deal with hundred degree weather, but some people actually do, yet they find themselves cold in rooms slightly under seventy degrees. Hope, South Dakota often deals with weather that can set at below zero at winter nights and ninety degree weather in the day, but half the people prefer the biting cold and…

In the spring weather is unpredictable and can change from a bright sunny sky to torrential rain in a matter of hours. Spring is also the time when snow can be seen at high altitudes while it’s a nice 65 degrees in the valleys (U.S.). Summer in the mountains calls for unrelenting heat and humidity. Temperatures can rise to the mid 90s in the valley but will rarely enter a temperature above 80 at the higher elevations. Fall sees a drop of temperatures across the board.…

According to WICCA “there is growing scientific knowledge about the potential frequency of large rainfalls is sufficient to warrant immediate changes in the methods used to design and manage storm water-related infrastructure.” The WICCI has determined that it is likely that Wisconsin will experience “wetter conditions and high water levels” (WICCI), due to climate change. Wisconsin will also have warmer winters leading to increase winter precipitation causing river flooding of lakes, rivers and groundwater. Managing water resources in Wisconsin is critical to adapt to the impacts of climate change.…
