According to nationalgeographic.com we can expect the ocean levels to rise 2.5 feet to 6.5 feet by 2001 and flood many cities along the coast destroying peoples and animals homes. They also have said Greenland ice sheets will completely melt and the sea level will rise to 23 feet submerging London. This may not seem like a lot and that it is too far in the future to worry about, but it is something to worry about now. If we don’t do anything now there will be nothing to do in the future because this is a process over time. What we can do is use less energy. Energy itself may not emit gases bad for the environment, although the power plant the energy is from might. You can turn off lights not in use or use a fan instead of an air conditioner when it’s hot. Cars burn fossil fuel and emit carbon dioxide so, walking, riding a bike, taking the bus or carpooling to work or school would be a better option than driving to your destination. Recycling is also a good thing and something we should all be doing in the first place. Burning garbage in garbage dumps emits carbon dioxide and goods that are recycled take up less energy to make than goods that aren’t. Planting trees and other plants is also a good idea.
