Major action of implementing new technologies to reduce climate change needs to take place if people plan on having the world around for future generations. The problem the world is running into right now is that climate change is happening faster than scientists predicted. Mark Pagani, a Yale Geochemist who studies climates of the past stated, “I feel like the time to do something was yesterday” (Gillis). This simple statement perfectly shows how our world is headed for disaster at the rate things are going. The high levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by factories are affecting the planet, and by 2100 a change in the global temperature may be seen with a rise of 4 degrees (Koch). Four degrees may not sound like much, but it could cause extreme heat waves, severe drought and major floods. According to the World Bank’s Vice President, Rachel Kyte, people don’t have time to lose. In Kyte’s recent report, the planet …show more content…
It can lower energy costs, create new jobs, promote economic development and of course they are emissions-free. The current fuel sources come with many limitations and negative effects. They are high in cost that are becoming higher, resources (oil and coal) are becoming limited, and carbon based fuels are adding to global warming. According to “Benefits of Alternative Energies”, renewable energy technologies have little impact on water resources, do not discharge pollutants into surface water and toxins do not seep into the groundwater. The benefits of using alternative energy are very clear and it is a step in the right direction to a greener
