Climate Change In Canada

“We heard from a wide range of Canadians that previous reforms to environmental laws put our environment, fish, and waterways at risk and eroded public trust. We listened and took action to fix this. With better rules for major projects, our environment will be cleaner and our economy stronger. Making decisions based on robust science, evidence and Indigenous traditional knowledge, respecting Indigenous rights, and ensuring more timely and predictable project reviews will attract investment and development that creates good, middle-class jobs for Canadians.” this is a quote from Catherine McKenna the Minister of Environment and Climate Change in the government of Canada. It gives all organisms Food, water, and a shelter away from the cold winter days. Our ecosystem provides many things, therefore we must show love and care. On April 22, schools all across Canada participate in being eco-friendly. Turning off all electricity and by participating in the neighborhood clean up, you can do your part for our planet. Additionally, many schools have a type of environmental club at their schools to raise awareness about the environment. For example, you can start an Eco- team right at your school so your school can join in with keeping our lives eco-friendly. Also, Changing a few habits a day can actually benefit the earth. Taking shorter showers, limiting water uses, never throwing trash into the water sources and by using Earth-friendly cleaning products can help our land become healthier and fresh. There are many existing laws for our environment, which are not very effective. For example, the number one law is the fine for Littering. This law is easily broken and the fine can go for as high as $500. At this moment this law is easily broken by a lot of garbage left on the land where we call our home. Based on environmental research from the Government of Canada, it has shown that different reforms have not been efficacious towards our environment, therefore they have come up with more beneficial regulations. Another one of our biggest problems is with our water usages. In our world, the water supplies are under big circumstances. It has been shown that about 30% of Toilet water gets wasted , 35% of Shower and Bathwater( gets wasted),5% of water used for cleaning( get wasted), 10% of water for drinking and use in the kitchen (gets wasted), and finally 20% of water gets wasted for the laundry. The amount of water wasted is ridiculous to the amount of water at risk, because of our behavior toward the earth. Another way our water sources are at risk is due to Water pollution. Water pollution is caused by the careless mistakes of humanity that harm the water sources. Many ways water can be polluted are from trashing the water to the Oilsands that are ruining our water

We must change the way we think, behave and live among other species. As we learned, man was created for the world and not the other way around, so it should be our mission to leave the world in a more harmonious and sustainable way. Our mission should be to change the minds, actions and habits of present and future generations toward the environment. Many environmentalist have stated that, we have to protect human health and our environment by reducing artificial climate change, air pollution, land availability, soil erosion and water scarcity. We must adopt the same principle that John Stuart Mill promoted which is “we as a people have a moral duty to increase good for the greater number of people”.…

One of the most vast and discombobulating subjects our education system teaches us is Geography. When I was younger, about nine or ten, I always had the perception that Geography involved the study of volcanos and thunderstorms. However, as I became older I slowly came to the realization that it embodied a great deal more. At the time I was learning about Geography and I didn't even know it. Through my Social Studies class I learned about the Aboriginal Peoples movements through summer and winter, all the while obtaining the information about why they moved.…

“Worldwide, the consumption of water is doubling every 20 years”. For Canada this may not seem like a problem, but for other countries it is. I am lucky to be able to live in a country where I can go to my sink and grab a glass of water, knowing that it’s safe to drink. Since we are so privileged, we often forget about others who aren’t as privilege and often take advantage of our easy access to water. This being running the shower too long, leaving our sprinklers on and whatever else that uses large consumptions of water.…
