Climate change has affected South Australia in a number of factors. It has affected the land, water, air, people, animals and vegetation, and the weather. All levels of government (local, state, and federal) need to be aware of the destruction climate change will cause (Commonwealth of Australia, 2011). In regards to climate change, a stigma needs to be stopped. It is a fact that some people believe climate change is a hoax. This makes an important cause to take appropriate actions by the government, communities, and individuals in South Australia to “ensure effective adaption is possible in a changing environment” (Commonwealth of Australiac, n.d.)

According to Cooper (2015), oceans are a key role with delaying the effects of climate change by “absorbing heat and greenhouse gases”. Adelaide depends on the Murray Darling Basin for 90 per cent of its water supply, and a decline in likely to happen by 2070 because of the hotter and drier climates (Commonwealth of Australiac, n.d.). It is a well-known fact that climate change will lead to sea level rise, which will destroy coastal environments and its ecosystems. South Australia’s sea level increases between 2-7 millimetres per year, since the 1990s (ibid). Corals will bleach themselves white if exposed to high temperatures, as it will eject the microorganisms living inside them. These microorganisms are vital to coastal environments as they help feed coral species, and absorb marine waste (Cooper, 2015). Increased temperatures will also make the ocean too acidic to sustain important marine species; it will also produce poor quality of water for South Australians (Commonwealth of Australiaac, n.d.). Due to poor water quality, Garnaut (2011) claims people will receive water-borne infectious diseases and other health
