Climate change affects everybody and everything all over the world and is impacting how we live our lives. Around the world, we need to tackle the issues of climate change and alter the way we consume and dispose of resources. The pollution we create from factories and vehicles goes up into our atmosphere and creates a barrier of greenhouse gas. When the sun 's rays come to earth and then radiate back out to space, they can’t go back because of the one way, very thick greenhouse gas barrier. The 20 warmest years ever have happened since 1981 and with 10 of the warmest happening within the past 12 years and this is continuing to get worse as the years go on. If we don 't do something about this

Solving the problem and stopping climate change would improve our world for future generations. In the past few years, our theme of having a white Christmas in Toronto is not impossible but somewhat unlikely, however, it is not only Toronto that suffers from these effects. The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass and are melting, making the water level globally rise. Greenland lost 150 to 250 cubic kilometres of ice per year in 2002 and that lasted until 2006. Antarctica lost 152 cubic kilometres of ice between the years 2002 and 2005. Global sea levels rose about 17 centimetres in the last century because of melting ice caps. Small islands and cities like New Orleans will be underwater if the ice caps continue to melt. Eventually, almost half of Russia, Australia, South America and almost all of Europe will be covered in water. Millions of people’s homes may be destroyed and submerged in water all because we won 't cut back on issues such as factory output and vehicle …show more content…
This would kick off the “walk to work Wednesday” campaign and local businesses would be encouraged to serve coffee, breakfast sandwiches and other treats to people on their way downtown to work. I feel that his would be a great initiative in building city pride while fighting climate change. Who knows, we might be able to spread this across Canada, city by city. If that happened, the whole world might notice our desire and initiative to combat climate change.

Also, I would like to implement a lobbying campaign aimed at our government which would ask the Canadian government to put pressure and enact enforceable law against countries that still burn coal as well as nations which have been slow to adopt voluntary factory shutdowns to stop emissions and smog, for example, China and India. By lobbying our government we can help Prime Minister Trudeau push his bold climate change agenda with strengthened support from the citizens of Canada. I believe with these efforts we can make change and raise awareness on the effects of climate

In today’s world, global warming is common knowledge to most people. Every day global warming gets worse. Some people in today’s society are eager to stop global warming because they are aware of the problems that global warming is causing to people and the Earth. Across the world, people know that industrial smokestacks are a big cause of global warming in today’s society. Some people believe that by ignoring global warming that it will not affect them, and that they can’t make a difference.…

There has been an unprecedented amount of evidence that our Earth is heating up due to global warming causing hard to repair damage to the world. According to Van Jones, author of The Green Collar Economy we must take action now. The rising temperatures are melting the ice caps at alarming rates they are also allowing there to be a rise in bacterial plant diseases that ruin crops, and disease carrying insects. These insects can ruin more crops, as they are active for a much longer time. We humans add about seven billion tons of carbon to the atmosphere every year.…

The Importance of Life Life is an incredible thing and can be found in countless different shapes, sizes, and forms. But no matter what form life takes, it always has one characteristic that never changes, and that is it’s always important and is always discussed in the highest regards. In two articles from the Coyote Reader, “To Really Save the planet, Stop Going Green by Mike Tidwell”, and “Topic of Cancer” by Christopher Hitchens, the idea that life is important is exemplified and explained through two very different scenarios. By looking at these two articles, one talking about saving the environment and the effects that will happen if it is not saved, and one talking about a man trying to save his life from the devastating effects of…

Canada is still behind other developed countries when it comes to the amount of greenhouse gas emissions it has reduced. While other developed countries are decreasing its emissions, Canada's is climbing. As global emissions are increasing, the decisions that countries make now about climate change are crucial and critical. I believe climate change needs to be dealt with immediately because first, the effect it has on the economy. Climate change is primarily caused by the greenhouse effect being enhanced by human activities, which alters the temperature of the planet; causing an increase in intense rainfall events, heat waves and droughts, a rise in sea level, and increasing the number of hot days and nights by warming the planet.…

Global Warming is beginning to drastically affect the Earth. Most people do not think about the damage they are doing to the Earth of if they do they think it is a problem for the future and not for now, which is untrue. Humans’ lifestyles should be altered to prevent further damage to Earth’s environment by reducing the demand for energy, recycling, and using less air conditioning and heat, these acts will reduce global warming. If the human race would cut down on energy usage, it would slow down global warming 's damages. In “Climate Change Science-…

Global warming has become a prominent environmental and economic crisis in not only Canada, but the entire world. For the past 35 years, countries around the globe have dedicated billions of dollars to research on ways to prevent, remedy, and demolish global warming and other detriments to the earth’s atmosphere. It is predicted that Canada will face a number of serious problems due to global warming, but at the same time, there are some extremely beneficial effects of this warming that will be good. The Canadian government is well aware of the impacts of global warming on Canada, but for the most part seems to focus its efforts on improving the economy and little on reducing our emissions that are contributing to climate change.…

An additional large factor in the increasing levels of seawater is the fact that ice caps in the arctic are melting. Unfortunately, the melting ice caps are another result of solar warming. Over many years, “the vast ice cover around the North Pole has shrunk due to global warming. This has led to rise in sea levels, which ultimately affects coastal regions” (“Melting Ice Caps Affect Coastal Regions”). In this article, the author goes into depth on the results of the melting ice caps.…

Global Warming is more than just temperature change. The cost of global warming is extraordinarily expensive. According to a report by the United Nation 's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, released in March 2014, the Earth 's rising temperature could bring about economic disaster ranging anywhere between $70 and $100 billion a year. This would be the result of “the combined cost of crop losses, rising sea levels, higher temperatures and fresh water shortages” (Surrey 2016). Furthermore, the estimates do not account for major, catastrophic natural events such as tsunamis, Earthquakes, and super storms, which would only increase the overall cost of global warming.…

Ice caps are slowly diminishing around the world because of numerous problems. First of all, when the ice caps thaw seasonally then rebuild, they are no longer rebuilding back, because there is less snowfall and more heat, as shown in Figure C. When ice caps melt, sea levels rise which can disturb the migration pattern of animals, alter ecosystems, and make people move out of their homes because of flooding. it can also threaten many islands and coastal cities. An estimate by NASA is that polar ice caps shrink 9% every ten years, based on photos that they have taken. Another prediction is that oceans can rise between 2.5 and 6.5 feet every year.…

The subject of climate change has been hotly debated over the past decade. It is now obvious that the climate is changing and that it is more than likely going to cause problems in the future. The amount of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere has considerably increased since the Industrial Revolution. As fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and crude oil are burned, carbon dioxide is discharged into the atmosphere where it is trapped. This is called the greenhouse effect and although essential to the survival of all life on Earth, this process has gotten out of hand recently.…

In 2016, Earth’s global surface temperature is approximated to rise 1.3 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels (Le Page,1). Throughout the last century, it’s become evident to what has led to the increase in the warming of Earth.…
