Client Description The client is a 14 year old female who is half Irish, half Japanese. She is presenting with social anxiety and low self-esteem. The client is currently in 8th grade and is on a cheerleading squad. The clients parents are divorced and she currently lives with her mother. She reports that she has a great relationship with both of her parents and they are both supportive. The client states that she has friends at school, but her and her best friend are no longer speaking. She explains that when she has to go to certain classes, “I feel like I want to crawl out of my skin.” She also explains that she has stomach aches at times and is afraid she is going to throw up. Additionally, the client stated that she is bored of her routine. Moreover, the client reports she does not like her eyebrows, …show more content…
The coping skill will be positive self talk administered before each class period. The dependent variables are the client’s progress. The study is qualitative because there will be only one participant. The client’s progress will be measured through questionnaires. (See Appendix A) The questionnaires are used because it is inexpensive, not time consuming, and easily replicated. The questionnaires will be administered before the intervention begins, six weeks after the intervention has begun, and twelve weeks after the intervention has begun. The questionnaire will be provided during the client’s individual session at Wayne Counseling and Family Services. The measures will be scored by the researcher and compared to each other at the end of the experiment. The research experiment is not valid because the researcher made the questionnaire and the questionnaire is not backed up by scientific evidence. If the client reports that she feels less anxious in social situations and the questionnaire shows a reduced level of anxiousness then the research experiment will be
