Introduction
This firm has been retained to evaluate the organizational capacity for St. Excellent hospital to implement several key informational technology initiatives under the direction of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Marilyn Johnson. This executive summary will provide an assessment of the organization’s strengths and growth opportunities as they relate to these initiatives, couple with specific guidance and recommendations driven by current organizational capacity and market conditions.

Organizational assessment
St. Excellent is mid-size community hospital with a strong financial position. Despite its position in a highlight competitive market, St. Excellent is one of only a few hospitals in its market that has maintained an A credit rating from the three primary rating agencies and has realized consistently positive operating margins. St. Excellent generates those margins against an annual operating budget exceeding $130 million and a patient volume that exceeds 11,000 inpatient visits and 160,000 outpatient encounters annually. This suggests that the hospital will be capable of financing and sustaining major systems changes.

The Cleveland Clinic deployed this initiative in a staged manner, beginning with medical imaging and expanding to the full record over time.
