In the aftermath, and when her heartbeat returned to normal, Clemmie reached for the torch which she dropped as she fell. Wet blood oozed from a scratch on her cheek, and she angrily rubbed her hand against her face before she switched on the torch. Above her head, the tree trunk covered the whole entrance, with not enough room for an ant to squeeze through.
She was buried alive.
While she decided what to do next, she tugged on her boot and shone the torch further into the tunnel. Well, since there was no going back, she had to move forwards. The noise from the storm diminished the further she stumbled into the tunnel. Trickles of water ran down the side until it formed large puddles on the ground.
