There are so many neglected children in this crucial world, why bring more? Every child born should feel wanted, loved, and be cared for. Often a child isn't as physically, emotionally, and financially supported if it isn't planned. While some parents are never able to support their child, others knowingly give theirs up. Even if that seems a better option, it is never guaranteed that their child will be happy with the life their parents chose for them. "Many foster homes and orphanages are beyond capacity; putting a child into the foster care system would weigh even heavier on already-scarce resources." Teenagers often get messed up in this situation, statistics show that "almost 750,000 teenage girls become pregnant each year; almost 60% of these pregnancies result in births." Raising a child would mean to miss out on opportunities and limit their future careers. This would also mean to support their child with a job just enough to keep the food on the table. Out of the teens who lived with their parents, 34% lived below the poverty line and 63% for the ones who lived on their own. Joycelyn Elders says, "We really need to get over this love affair with the fetus and start worrying about children."
