The lines at the airport stretched to what looked like the ends of the Earth. People were milling about the security clearance and heading off to their flights. From the balcony area of the DIA, all I could think about was how easy it was for me, a six year old, to get lost among the crowd. I made sure to keep a very close watch on my parents so I didn’t get forgotten as we made our way through baggage and security. We tugged our carry-on bags through the narrow aisle until we found our assigned seats and arranged onto the electric blue plane seats. I’d always hated roller coasters and since this was my first time on an airplane, I had assumed they would resemble each other. My mom assured me it would be nothing to fear which eased my worry. My brother and I had never seen real sea shells and found a beat up white, round, shell in the parking lot and were enthralled with it, but little did we know there would be many more cool shells closer to the ocean. I also had never seen a palm tree so it was a lot of fun to sit by the pool and be surrounded by these tropical trees. Then as the sun was setting, we hopped out of the chlorinated water and crossed a wooden bridge sprinkled with sand. There was the vast ocean, small tides crashing onto the sand. I had begun to run as fast as my short little legs could take me, closer and closer to where the water met the land. Scattered along the beach were beautiful shells and mounds of rust colored seaweed. We had stayed on that beach until the sun was no longer visible over the horizon and the only light was the stars.
