Clayton Kershaw's Obituary

Improved Essays
Clayton Kershaw is on the mend from a lower back injury, but before the All-Star break, he was looking like the presumptive NL Cy Young winner. Unfortunately, he still hasn’t made it back from his injury, but it seems like he will be returning pretty soon. If I was going to go out on a prediction on what day he will return, it would probably be in this upcoming week. Clayton Kershaw finished off the first half of the season with a 1.79 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, and an impressive 9 walks in 121 innings played. If Kershaw can return with similar numbers, he will definitely be the front runner for the NL Cy Young Award and possibly the NL MVP. Kershaw won the 2014 MVP and Cy Young with a 1.77 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 31 walks, so if he continue on the path he …show more content…
Stephen Strasburg holds the most impressive record in the big leagues with a 13 – 0 record. He is undefeated up until this point with a 2.51 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 138 SO. Strasburg is right up with Kershaw in contention for the NL Cy Young Award, and the race will only get tighter as the season continues. Strasburg doesn’t look like declining anytime soon and neither does his team. The Nationals are riding a 5 game win streak and will probably finish on top of the NL East. In my opinion, I would consider them one of the favorites for winning the World Series and a big reason for that is because of Strasburg’s pitching. Fortunately, Strasburg is on a team that has helped him out graciously with runs. Other aces have thrown great games and lost because of no offensive support, but with a team filled with offensives stars, that doesn’t seem to happen anytime …show more content…
As of today, he holds a 4.34 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 9 – 6 record. I think Price will come out of his first half slump and become that dominate pitcher we saw in Detroit, Tampa Bay, and Toronto. He is on a team that doesn’t lack run support, so it’s going to be up to him to get his ERA down and go on a run of wins to help his team secure a postseason position. I think the Red Sox will finish top in their division and get over the hump that is the Baltimore Orioles because of players like David Price and the newly acquired pitcher Drew Pomeranz. The Red Sox are on a 6 game winning streak and David Price is pitching tomorrow, so we can see if he can continue the trend of winning his team has already started or blunder an opportunity to catch the

Son of Albert and Beulah Walker, the elder brother to Verlon Lee and Leslie Boyce; Rube was another child to carry on their dad’s past of being a semipro catcher in his younger days. McConnell isn’t a big name player who is going to take the court each night and score 40 points. He’s a guy who stuffs the stat sheets across the board, which is exactly what I like for category-based fantasy leagues. So far this season, McConnell has averaged 6.9 points, 6.5 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 28.6 minutes per game. If you have a player injured and need a fill in guy for a week or two, McConnell could very well be a guy to keep your eye…

The Texas Rangers (2-1) fall to the Toronto Blue Jays (1-2) by a final score of 5-1 in Arlington Texas. The Rangers bats were silenced for most of the night, and the Blue Jays looked like a team that didn’t want their season to end tonight. Martin Perez (0-1 7.20 ERA) took the loss for the Rangers, while Marco Estrada (1-0 1.42 ERA) got the win for the visiting Blue Jays. Martin Perez got off to a magnificent start for the Rangers, retiring the first six hitters that he faced. Both pitchers were getting after it, and it looked like it was going to be a pitchers duel.…

Baseball lost a great player a just a few days ago, unceremoniously sent off into the sunset by a surprise sweep of the upstart Cleveland Indians. David Ortiz, formerly of the Boston Red Sox, decided some time ago this would be his last year, and win, lose, or draw, he seems to be sticking to his decision. As is often the case, now there is one important discussion left for Ortiz. Now that David Ortiz’s career is finished, it is our job as those who enjoy the game to examine and dissect the totality of his career and determine its final resting place, namely, is his story one that belongs in Baseball’s Hall of fame?…

During the 2016 regular season, Clayton Kershaw performed like he was an elite pitcher putting up great numbers throughout the whole season. He posted an above average 1.69 ERA with a record of 12-4. He started 21 games for the Dodgers and was their best pitcher by far. On the other side, Jake Arrieta did not have as good an ERA.
