In the elaborate book Schooled by Gordan Korman, Capricorn Anderson is a thirteen year old boy, raised and homeschooled as a hippie by his dead parent´s mother, Rain on a farm commune. There, plenty of typical hippie knowledge such as tie-die and Zen Buddhism is deposited in his brain. Though he was in complete isolation of a normal kid middle school.One day on the farm, while Rain is picking plums she falls out of the plum tree and lands herself in a hospital. In the meantime Capricorn, or Cap, is sent off to a middle school full of typical, non-hippie children, called Claverage Middle School or C- average.This is an immense change in his life, though it is arguable whether it’s negative or positive. When Naomi, who is starting to see the affectionate, good-natured side of Cap after tormenting him for so long, has a fundraiser, Cap pitches in. Not only does he pitch in but he gives a total of one thousand dollars! This not only impresses the bystander’s but leads to Naomi kissing him,in the boyś bathroom with a promise “To be continued.” The fact he only uses the money given to him for donating to charity shows Cap is generous and caring. I know a lot of kidś who would use that for less good purposes Soon after this Mr. Rodrigo Cap’s bus driver has a heart attack! While the students stare dumbfoundedly at their drivers limp body Cap jumps up and takes the wheel while Naomi directs him to the hospital. By now Cap has become so popular that Zach, the jock has become jealous. He makes a plan with Hugh to have the football team tackle Cap. Cap wears the other team's color making it look as if he's an opponent. The whole team charges on him, making him end up in the nurse's office. Then Darry accuses Zach of scheming this with Winkleman. When Darryl throws a blow to Zach’s face he misses and hits Cap instead who had been trying to break the fight up. He later is picked up by Rain, in a hospital ambulance. Of course to the students it looked like Cap had been hurt seriously. After this rumors spread like wildfire that Cap had died! Students become concerned and start to not like Zach as much as they know he may have put …show more content…
I think after this incident with a cool hippie being president the school will take the job of president more seriously, not voting the geekiest person. Cap changes the world around him by so much, he learns so much about modern society. He makes the school more accepting, and more of a whole community. Everybody who attended his service who gave a speech said how Cap touched their lives and changed them for the better
