The person I decided to interview was my mom. Her name is Claudia Elizabeth Bravo Corona. She was born on October 11, 1983 and raised in a small town called Palma Grande in the state of Nayarit in Mexico. My mom never met her biological father and when my grandma married my mom’s stepdad, my mom decided to move in with her aunt. My mom’s aunt has a daughter that is a couple days younger than my mom so when they were younger (and even now) they got along really well. In the house that my mom grew up in, she was surrounded with many family members. My uncles (Roberto and Silve) and my aunts (Carmela, Peti, and Elva) and my great grandpa both looked after my mom and made sure she was never in need of basic possessions. She said that a lot of the things she does, she does them because she knew that my Aunt Elva would be proud of her. My Aunt Elva was like a mom to my mom. She took care of my mom and her daughter the same way and she didn’t make my mom feel left out. My Aunt Elva was very strict and back then my mom hated it. Now she’s thankful because she recognizes that my aunt just wanted the best for her and prevented her from doing dumb things that she would regret later on. The way that my aunt raised my mom affects me. My mom didn’t like how strict my aunt was so instead of being strict she decides to give me advice so I don’t do anything that I will regret. The advice she gives me relates to what her answer was when I asked her what philosophy a person my age should live by. She said that if someone hurts you, don’t try to hurt them back to get revenge. You should leave everything to God and that way you won’t live with guilt. Her answer was directed mostly to me because she knows I have a bad temper and I hold grudges. She doesn’t want people to hurt me but she also doesn’t want me to seek revenge and end up regretting it
