At first, Water Lilies, painted by Claude Monet, looks as if there is not much going on in the painting; however, that is most definitely not the case. Painted in 1914- 1917 this pastel beauty strikes the attention not just because of the painter but because of the mysterious feeling. Our perspective is downward at the surface of the water in which the lilies sit. It is in the height of summer that this was painted as the lilies are in full bloom. Their vibrant petals are opened to full extent which is what leads us to know that it is in the middle of summer.
