A nurse educator can address incivility by letting students know the ground rules. The educator can have an open communication with all the students and let them know that using cells phone in the classroom and talking while the professor is lecturing is strongly prohibited and students who fail to abide by these principles will be reprimanded. Also, educators can type up a written classroom or clinical checklist with core behaviors that are unacceptable and have each student signed it so, therefore, the educator has documentation that students agree to follow the rules.
