To begin, I believe to train or teach a student who is a little more advanced than the beginner students, teaching them has to be really particular in how to develop the student. It is first important to gauge exactly where the student is in their play level. You should inspect their form and how they approach the instrument. When they are playing snare drum, evaluate the strokes and height of their playing. While a student maybe great in their execution of a piece, it does not necessary mean their form matches their playing level. The same rule applies for their mallet playing. We can start with lesson five because since the student already has a sense of rhythm and time, this should be a fun warm up for the student. The lesson plays around with the dotted sixteenth note and can be used also to practice swing feels. I would also have the student practice this exercise on mallets but pick a scale to play it and make it groove both straight forward and with a swing feel.
Week 2: Peters intermediate for snare drum and green studies for mallets. This week we will start the Peters book lesson 1 for the student to get the feel of completing a snare solo cleanly. So, because this solo is not really hard they should be able to get through fairly well at 90 bpm. The green studies lesson 1 will also be this week to get the hands moving and keep the scales in mind.

This week we will work on executing matches on the snare drums. The tempo is usually 100 bpm. Matches should away be play rhythmically right because it acts as a metronome during matches. Lessons two in the green book should be practiced and executed at 80 bpm.

This week is back to syncopation because I want to cover in depth subdivision with dotted eight notes and triplets. These can be done at 90 bpm. I wanted to go back to lesson 2 again this week because I want to hear.
