To begin, I believe to train or teach a student who is a little more advanced than the beginner students, teaching them has to be really particular in how to develop the student. It is first important to gauge exactly where the student is in their play level. You should inspect their form and how they approach the instrument. When they are playing snare drum, evaluate the strokes and height of their playing. While a student maybe great in their execution of a piece, it does not necessary mean their form matches their playing level. The same rule applies for their mallet playing. You should watch for how they alternate striking and how they are getting to the notes on the page. Once you have fully evaluated the level of the students playing, …show more content…
We can start with lesson five because since the student already has a sense of rhythm and time, this should be a fun warm up for the student. The lesson plays around with the dotted sixteenth note and can be used also to practice swing feels. I would also have the student practice this exercise on mallets but pick a scale to play it and make it groove both straight forward and with a swing feel.
Week 2: Peters intermediate for snare drum and green studies for mallets. This week we will start the Peters book lesson 1 for the student to get the feel of completing a snare solo cleanly. So, because this solo is not really hard they should be able to get through fairly well at 90 bpm. The green studies lesson 1 will also be this week to get the hands moving and keep the scales in mind.
Week 3: Peters intermediate lessons 5 for snare drum and green studies lesson 1 rag time. This week we will work on developing a stringer roll base so I would like the student to start at 80 bpm and get up to 100 bpm. Also, for mallets this makes for a great week to start understanding rag time for mallets.
Week 4: Peters lesson ten snare and

This week we will work on executing matches on the snare drums. The tempo is usually 100 bpm. Matches should away be play rhythmically right because it acts as a metronome during matches. Lessons two in the green book should be practiced and executed at 80 bpm.
Week 6: Syncopation lesson eight snare drum lesson two in green xylophone.
This week is back to syncopation because I want to cover in depth subdivision with dotted eight notes and triplets. These can be done at 90 bpm. I wanted to go back to lesson 2 again this week because I want to hear.
Week 7: Syncopation lesson ten and 20 bar exercise both snare and mallets. This week is a focus of rhythm at quick tempo so on snare drum between 100 and 110 bpm. Two scales must be chosen again.
Week 8: Wilcoxon solos one and two for snare drum, Goldenberg mallets. This week we are combining a series of rudiments so we are starting with Wilcoxon’s solo one and two at 90 bpm cleanly. And for mallets the Goldenberg book page 13 to work on lyrical rolls sounding pretty.
Week 9: Wilcoxon solo 1-4 for snare drum, Goldenberg for

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a part of one of the hardest working groups on campus? Seniors Ian Felter and Chloe Bartholio have been a part of Drumline for two and half years and four years respectively. While Ian plays the cymbals, Chloe is one of the Base 3 players in the battery. Both seniors have loved being a part of such a great group and believed that the experience has had a large impact on them as individuals as well as their future. Though they are both very different, the songs “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede and “A Quick Exit” by Darren Mitchell can be broken down into their musical elements and easily compared. The elements that are most apparent in these two songs are rhythm, melody, harmony, and dynamics. Both pieces use these same elements, but in different ways, which produce the different songs that we hear. Also since these songs are different genres, there will be distinct differences between how they convey each element.…

To improve the lesson next time I teach it, I will make sure to direct the students how many frog counters are needed to be placed on top of the lilly pad. This way students are working on creating a better understanding with the numbers and not just randomly putting frog counters on top and bottom of the lily pad. I will include singing the numbers 0-5 with the student at the beginning and end of the lesson to keep them engaged.…

Walking into Kekionga Middle School I noticed a lot of differences from schools that I had visited previously. The most visible one being the school’s population and location. I had never observed at an urban school and have never felt such a cultural difference between me and the students. With a school population that was so diverse and not within the same background as I was, I immediately started thinking about my future teaching career and what I would do in that kind of atmosphere. I later on asked Mrs. Parker why she chose this school and said that it was because she went to Fort Wayne Community Schools all of her life, so she did not feel change at all.…

The piece that I have chosen is “Country Gardens”, written by Percy Grainger. This piece was his first piano arrangement of the English Morris dance tune “Country Gardens.” It became extremely popular and his greatest commercial success, later this piece became one of his least favorite pieces as he was asked to play it so often. A remark that was included in the early publication was: “Rough sketched for 2 whistlers and a few instruments about 1908.” In another edition he writes: “In some parts of England, groups of countryside dancers-teams of Morris Men- decked out with ribbons and jingling bells, still dance the Morris Dance to the accompaniment of such tunes as Shepherd’s Hey and Country Gardens.” Although this piece may appear simple, it is just another example of Grainger’s genius with harmony, counterpoint, and color.…

The students are assessing each other for the critical elements which relates to movement patterns because they are looking for ways to correct their peers movements. Once they are able to understand what the correct movement pattern should look like for bench pressing and deadlifting, it can help them in their own movement. Once the students are able to display 3 out of the 4 critical elements for the two skills I know that they have developed the competence in the psychomotor objective. The affective objective for lesson two is the students will discuss with their partners the critical elements they are not displaying.…
