Today we began the day discussing the interactions that we had documented for homework. We split up peoples observations between the two catagories active and passive and discussed why they were. After, we each recieved a character to look for or think about for our ride on the bus and document what their experience would be like. I was given commuter and spent my time on the bus thinking about how it would effect me. We regrouped after the ride on the bus and talked about our findings and the main problems for different commuters. Becca than gave us catgories for us to think up objects such as materials, body parts, and adjectives and we had to come up with ideas for things to make. We also began learning how to sew by hand using a thread

I emailed the whole group on March 5 before spring break so we could get started on the assignment because spring break was coming up. Right away I got an email from Giselle she helped to explain what needed to be done for the assignment. The following day I got an email back from Paige saying she would like to answer question 3.…

If I were able to pick the line for Spring 2016 I would pick Potential Candidates that would help keep this chapter alive and better the chapter as well. I would chose Courtney Lall because she's very passionate and has made connections with other sister from other chapters. I would then choose Melanie Taveras. She hasn't been and interest long, but she knows a lot about the chapter and comes up with good suggestions when it comes to fundraising. about the.…

My child observation and classroom observation took place at the Mt. San Jacinto Child Development and Education center in the preschool/pre-k (ages 36 months to 54 months) program room. This classroom has 2 teachers and 15 children in attendance during my observation. My study child is a male student age 4 who for this assignment I will refer to as C. The classroom environment as a whole can handle the children within the program, however I will provide a better picture of the entire room to have a clear picture for reflection. As a child walking into this classroom you feel a sense of warmth of both the environment and also from the teacher as she greats all her children individually.…

Discussion As outlined previously, there were 3 domains from the CLASS use to conduct observations on a teacher and children in a preschool classroom. The 3 domains used to conduct the observations are Emotional support, Classroom organization, and Instructional Support. The Pre-K CLASS has 10 dimensions that are scored on a 7 point scale, from low to high with a score of 1 and 2 consider being in the low range; 3, 4, and 5 are mid-range; and 6 and 7 are a high range. In general, the quality of the classroom was very positive, in the middle-high ranges. As you can see from Table 1, there were multiple scores of 5 and 6 such as in the positive climate, teacher sensitivity, regard for student perspectives, behavior management, productivity,…

People behave a certain way in a public space according to what they are taught is an appropriate social manner. Public spaces forces the individual to accept the proper social norms of conduct and to adhere to them. Public transportation is one of those public spaces that is interesting to observe because the people within the public transportation system are forced to interact with one another, when they may have never needed to interact with each other before. The public transportation system of Williamsburg gives a good depiction of this interaction through the patrons that use the public buses. People who use the public buses in Williamsburg can be put into three categories: the William and Mary Students, the service workers, and the elderly…

In the past month, I have been traveling to Williams Middle School in Florence, South Carolina to observe a dance educator and Coker alumni, Ashley Lesage. After the opportunity of observing twice, there were a few things I agreed with and did not agree with as far as the students and teaching methods. September 15, 2016 was my first time observing in Ms. Lesage’s classroom. One of the first things I noticed amongst the students were their clothing attire. In a dance studio, usually an observer would see leotards, tights, leggings, t-shirt, and a tanktop.…

On my first day of observing Mrs. Albita’s 4th grade classroom, I first noticed how she selected the student that would write the objective for the day. Mrs. Alba has a jar with popsicle sticks that contain the names of all the students in her class. She selects one stick and that student is responsible for writing the class objective correctly. First the student has to listen to the teacher carefully. Next, the student writes down what he/she heard.…

The population within Williamsburg can be divided into three groups: the college students, the service workers, and the elderly folk. Usually these three groups roam in isolated circles from each other, they never really interact. My initial thoughts going into the project were that I wanted to zone in on the specific actions of service workers and a William and Mary student towards each other on the bus. What was of interest to me, was the unique society that is derived from riding a bus; the public bus even though it is a public space, creates its own society and social behaviors. When a patron gets on the bus, they prescribe to the unique societal structure that is being created by the atmosphere of the bus; it is to, a person may behave…

I can empathize with teachers who say that the observation and evaluation process does not seem reciprocal in nature. Most of my follow-up evaluations have either been waived or conducted in five minutes or less in which the principal hits upon the highlights of my observation. Very few teaching lessons have been learned through these interactions. In her article though, Shelly Arneson includes sound practices that can be implemented to alleviate many of the concerns of the evaluation process. Her basic premise is to shift the dialogue from inspection-based conversation to a reflection-based conversation.…

Being able to go out and observe in a classroom is something that makes me so excited to be a teacher in the future. I was able to observe a classroom and learn many techniques to encourage learning. On October 11 I went to Discovery Elementary School to observe in Mrs. Hibma’s classroom. This was a 3rd grade classroom, and this interested me because I would love to teach 3rd grade. There were 27 students in the classroom, which I found to be a large classroom.…
