Mario and myself for the past 4 weeks have gone every Monday and Wednesday to either run the intervention or take the children’s measurements. Everyday we the researchers go to either the control or intervention classrooms to either discuss college or do exercise. It seems that the students are really enjoying our activities. When running the intervention during these past few weeks the teachers were extremely helpful, as they would sometimes join us and encourage the children. It was also really useful that the following week we had a change of setting. When going to do exercises activities with the children the teachers decided that the exercise was creating a great amount ruckus. Two teachers then suggested that it would be best to dot he activities outside. This worked out to our benefit, which was quite nice, as the children seemed to enjoy it. Typically we make sure each student has plenty of space, and won't bump into any of their classmates or …show more content…
We successfully were able to achieve setting a baseline for the measurements. Furthermore, when trying to set the baseline we did run into some challenges for example the children during P.E time have a choice to stay inside the classroom, which made it impossible to take their measurements. It was also difficult to find the children during P.E class because they are split between the teachers and scattered around. When telling the children we wouldn’t be returning and thanking them for doing these activities with us they seemed sad. Although I will miss the children I feel we achieved our goal, as the children will not only miss us but the exercise we would do with them everyday. As a group we wanted to encourage children to become more active. The goal of the American Heart Association is to run a four-week program that inspires kids to get the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity a day in school and at home (Corbin,

Senior Activity Bea Asuncion Central Connecticut State University On the first day of Daybreak, the fellow nursing students and I had discussed with the nurses and the program director about the living quality of the clients. The nurses had encouraged us to teach anything about health since most of the clients never had an opportunity in the past to learn about health. The program director suggested the focus should be on teaching the clients about proper nutrition and diabetic care.…

Schools are the perfect settings to promote PA during physical education (PE) classes, and during recess periods, especially when they make available the right infrastructure and equipment to their students.…

Based off of evidence and conclusions made from this study, physical education classes should take place more frequently outside. Students should be encouraged to participate in competitive sports. Students are clearly more active during recess over physical education classes, so schools need to take a look at what is going on during PE class and determine if more activity needs to take place or, if necessary, more instruction to the students on motivating them to lead a healthier lifestyle. There needs to be a balance between teaching instruction and then fitness activities taking place during the class. This can refer back to a previous study read about the knowledge and education physical education teachers are receiving prior to becoming…

On my first day of observing Mrs. Albita’s 4th grade classroom, I first noticed how she selected the student that would write the objective for the day. Mrs. Alba has a jar with popsicle sticks that contain the names of all the students in her class. She selects one stick and that student is responsible for writing the class objective correctly. First the student has to listen to the teacher carefully. Next, the student writes down what he/she heard.…

To begin, I believe to train or teach a student who is a little more advanced than the beginner students, teaching them has to be really particular in how to develop the student. It is first important to gauge exactly where the student is in their play level. You should inspect their form and how they approach the instrument. When they are playing snare drum, evaluate the strokes and height of their playing. While a student maybe great in their execution of a piece, it does not necessary mean their form matches their playing level.…

This program will be focused on empowerment since the target population will only receive the intervention at one point in time. Although physical education is a standard part of school curriculum, children are unfortunately not getting the activity outside of school. To help increase physical activity rates in school aged children in the city of Davenport, Iowa an intervention will be put into place that will be designed for both the parents and their children to attend together. The purpose of the dual attendance will allow for the parents to fully understand what the physical activity needs are for their children, provide the opportunity to talk with their children about what activities they would enjoy doing, and work together to meet…

My group members and I recently started implementing our physical activity intervention at Farmdale Elementary. Majority of my group members are currently communicating with each other to schedule who can go on what day and time. Our communication has updated all of us on the current progress status of the physical activity intervention. Unfortunately, we were not able to take weight and height on the scheduled day and time of the first week because we were not aware that the time we were scheduled to take measurements was inconvenient, so we discussed more scheduling with Mrs. Moser. Luckily, we were able to catch up with measurements of the children the following day.…

I can empathize with teachers who say that the observation and evaluation process does not seem reciprocal in nature. Most of my follow-up evaluations have either been waived or conducted in five minutes or less in which the principal hits upon the highlights of my observation. Very few teaching lessons have been learned through these interactions. In her article though, Shelly Arneson includes sound practices that can be implemented to alleviate many of the concerns of the evaluation process. Her basic premise is to shift the dialogue from inspection-based conversation to a reflection-based conversation.…
